A palm-sized trimming tool with a hinged clamp. The upper jaw holds comb teeth, the lower holds a flat guide plate, and a blade sits behind the teeth. You clamp a small section and draw the tool down — the teeth separate the strands, the ones that lift or break away from the section get trimmed, and the rest passes through untouched.

It runs on a built-in rechargeable battery and charges by USB, so there's no cord while you're using it. It also puts out negative ions, which reduce the static that makes fine hair lift and fly.

It's a maintenance tool, not a haircut. It works on the outer edge of your ends — it doesn't shorten your hair or change your shape.

Charge fully with the supplied USB cable before first use.
Start with clean, completely dry, brushed-out hair. Knots will pull.
Use the sectioning clips to pin the top layers up and work from underneath in small sections.
Take a section narrower than the clamp and twist it lightly — this lifts the damaged ends so the teeth can catch them.
Close the clamp partway down the length, well clear of your scalp, and switch on.
Draw the tool down towards the ends in one steady movement. Don't hold it in one spot and don't force it through a tangle.
Work through the section two or three times, then move on.
Switch off before opening the clamp. Empty the trimmed hair from the housing when you're done.

Will this cut my hair shorter?
Not in any way you'd notice as a length change. It trims the strands that lift out of a section — the frayed and broken ones. Your overall length stays.
Does it actually fix split ends?
It removes them. A split end can't be sealed or healed, by this or by anything else, so removing it is the only real option. New ones will still form over time.
Is this a replacement for a salon trim?
No. It's what you do in between. A stylist cuts to a shape and works with a clean line; this tidies the surface damage that shows up three weeks in.
Can I use it on wet hair?
No. Dry hair only.
How often should I use it?
Every few weeks is plenty. Trimming more often than your ends need doesn't help and just means more handling.

Empty the trimmed hair out of the housing after every use — a full chamber stops the blade catching properly. Wipe the teeth and plate with a dry cloth. Never rinse the tool, hold it under a tap, or submerge any part of it.

Keep fingers clear of the clamp while it's switched on, and switch off before opening the jaws. Don't use it close to the scalp, and don't use it on anyone else's hair without them being able to see what you're doing.

Charge with the supplied cable only and unplug once it's full rather than leaving it on overnight. Store dry, at room temperature, clamp closed. If the blade dulls, the housing cracks, the cable frays, or the tool behaves oddly while charging, stop using it.
